Romans get sacked by TREVIANS

By FLIP GAGERMAN, 10/29/18, 8:00PM CDT

Revisionist History!!

For all you history buffs, it is well know that the Romans conquered most if not all of Germania many eons ago.  However, this past Friday evening, the tables were turned.  Our boys from TRIER put carnage on the Romans by a score of 3-0.  WHITE has now won 9 consecutive games!

Isaiah Gagerman opened the scoring at the 5 minute mark as he joined the rush into the offensive zone.  Charlie Acri keenly passed to  Gagerman streaking down the far wing as he ripped a shot, (top shelf) , as the goalie had no chance.  It was clear from the start our boys came ready to play.  With a raucous student section from Latin, White quieted down the "mob" as they controlled play for most of the period which was evident by  WHITE outshooting the home team 10-5.  White won the majority of faceoffs, something that has been missing through their winning streak.

Early in the second period, WHITE scored on the power play as John Hackett was fed with a saucer pass from Ryan O'Rourke to make it 2-0.  Jack Veenstra kept the Romans off the score sheet with a toe save at the 9 minute mark.  Soon thereafter, WHITE made it 3-0 as Hackett scored again with Buddington's crisp pass. WHITE killed of a 2 man advantage with 3 minutes to go in period 2.  The fireworks errupted at the end of the 2nd as Hackett was whistled for a 2 minute slash and a 5 minute head contact penalty.  Needless to say, Mr. Hackett's night was done as he took an early shower for the evening.

WHITE was asked to kill off a full 7 minutes to begin the final frame, a daunting task indeed!  With their new "trap" penalty kill setup, WHITE did exactly that as Latin was continuously frustrated as they attempted to enter the offensive zone but were thwarted time after time.  No real chances were allowed by either team the rest of the way as WHITE, (killing of over 10 minutes of penalty time), exhausted all of their energies being shorthanded.  Late in the frame, tempers flared once again but nothing came of it.  The battle mercilessly came to end.  Final score TRIER 3 Romans 0.

Notes:  WHITE travels to Lane Tech for another road game on Saturday evening. Overall record 11-1-1
