TREVIANS win streak comes to an abrupt end

By FLIP GAGERMAN, 10/30/18, 3:00PM CDT

Urgency lacking in defeat.

New Trier White's winning streak was snapped this past Saturday evening as Lane Tech beat the visitors 5-2.

White came out of the gates with a purpose on their first shift almost scoring a goal.  Soon thereafter, Lane Tech scored at the 49 second mark on a giveaway in the offensive zone to make it 1-0 Home team.  Midway through the period, Evan Palatnik scored shorthanded on a giveaway as he put one in on the startled goalie.  Being tied at 1 after 1, White was truly fortunate as they looked sluggish. There seemed to be no sense of urgency as sloppy passing was the theme of the period.

Three minutes into the second frame, Erik Pazini scored for Lane Tech, (five hole), off a turnover which originated in the neutral zone.  The visitors looked disorganized and lackadaisical sustaining no pressure whatsoever.  With 1 minute left in the second frame, the home team scored shorhanded on a partial breakaway to make it 3-1 going into the final period.

One would think there was a "talking to" in the lockeroom as through 2 periods, White simply did not look like itself.

Early in the frame, White scored as Charlie Acri's feed from Dan Buddington was nice to see.  That would be as close as White got as Lane Tech put the nail in the coffin scoring with 4 minutes left to make it 4-2.  White pulled goalie John Shenton for the extra attacker with just over 3 minutes left.  Lane Tech scored 1 minute later into the empty net. This was clearly a sub par performace by White. Final score: Lane Tech 5 White 2.

Notes: White out shot the home team 25-21 for the game.
