Green Suffers First Loss of the Season

In front of a standing room only crowd and against the backdrop of the private school student section taunting the injured Brian Dolby (who was still out with an upper body injury sustained on a late hit during last week’s win over Loyola), New Trier Green dropped its first game after 30 straight wins in a 2-0 loss to arch rival Loyola. Loyola scored early in the first and the game stayed 1-0 for almost 50 minutes of play. Green was unable to generate much offense, going 0-for-3 on the power play. Solid goaltending by Owen Reger and strong defensive play (including 2 penalty kills) kept it a 1-0 game until the closing seconds, when Loyola scored an empty netter to seal the win. Green leads the season series 2-1.
