Lokking Good!

New Trier White seems to back on a roll with a convincing win last night on the road against Highland Park winning 7-3.

Our boys came out flying from the opening whistle as they had 3 glorious chances within the first 2 minutes.  Not 1 minute later, Johnnie Hackett snapped one home on a nice feed from defenseman Gagerman.  1 minute later, and on the power play, White made it 2-0 as Danny Buddington scored with his linemates Hackett and Acri getting the assists.  It was clear from the outset that White was determined to keep unrelenting pressure on Highland Park.  Halfway through the period, White had outshot the Giants 11-1.  Crisp breakouts and good movement kept White in the home team's zone for most of the period.  With 6 minutes left in the frame, Hackett scored again with a wonderful shot bar down.  Assist going to his linemate Acri. End of the 1st, White leading 3-0 and outshooting the home team 15-3.

With White on the power play at the 3 minute mark of the second frame, Buddington scored unassisted of his patented face off win and shot to make it 4-0.  Jack Veenstra made a huge glove save on a partial breakaway midway through the period to keep the home team off the board.  Highland Park finally scored on their own power play with 9 minutes left in the middle frame with a nice shot from the dot  that screened Veenstra.  New Trier was putting a lot of rubber on the net as the Highland Park goal tender was working up quite a sweat!  Shots after 2 period favored White 30-10 with many being high quality chances.  This was the play we had been accustomed to earlier in the season.  There was plenty of "chipiness" by Highland Park as they seemed to know it was not their night.  George Glese was called for 3 consecutive penalties in the period as this large young man was given, (in order) a roughing minor, a boarding minor and then a 2 and 10 for a hit from behind.  Johnnie Hackett would not have Glese intimidate White as he was whistled for consecutive minor penalties.  With just over 3 minutes remaining in the frame, Jack O'Flarhety scored on a one timer to make it 6-1 heading into the 3rd period.  With the game seemingly out of reach, Highland Park demanded the ice be cleaned for the final period.  None too happy, Melton kept his troops on the bench.  Singing could be heard from the stands as it seemed like our boys were nestled in very nicely during the break. Shots after 2, White 31, Giants 9.

The third period was fairly nondescript as New Trier took their foot "off the gas" as Highland Park scored consecutive goals before Buddington finished the scoring on the power play with a nice assist going to Acri who finished the evening with a 4 point night!!  Final Score: WHITE 7 Highland Park 3.  The game was not that close as White's overall domination was prevalent.

Notes: Acri finished with 4 points.  Hackett and Buddington with 3 each.  The "HAB line clearly dominated in this game!  Final shots on goal.  TREVIANS 41, Giants 9.
